Practice makes perfect!

I love all the appliqued shirts I see in all of those specialty shops, so I thought why not try to make one myself. All it took was a onesie, spare fabric, fusible web, iron, and a sewing machine. I'm sure once I get a little better at this I probably will not need the fusible web, but for now I think it helps me keep the applique in place while sewing. The heart pattern I used was from a Cricut Cartridge called Doodlcharms. I used my Cricut machine to cut the pattern out of card stock, then traced the pattern on the back of my fabric. You can use your Cricut to cut fabric, but it does tend to dull your blade. I then put the fusible web on the back of my fabric pattern and ironed it on my onesie. Last but not least using a straight stitch on my sewing machine I sewed about a half inch in around my heart. I'm pretty happy with how my first try turned out.
